Witchcraft & the Queer Counterculture Pt. 3: QUEER SEX MAGIC

Sex magic has nothing to do with your personal desires, your personal attractions, or what turns you on. The dictum of sex magic has always been to learn to bypass the ego (and eventually "destroy" it) -- the sum of personality parts and stories of who we are and all of our preferences -- and plunge down the proverbial rabbit hole of the Holy Hunger of God Herself. The hypostasis of whom in the sex magic of traditional witchcraft is Dame Venus, the Elphen Queen of the Rose Bower. Our Witchmother turns none away from Her bed.

Within this Holy Hunger all flesh is sacred, erotic, and wrapped in the engagement of sensual desire, burning with lust. It is the call of queer sex magic that we learn, as witches, to re-spell our relationship to desirability and subvert (go Below the Green, as it were) the conventional definitions of beauty and attraction. We must journey into the Shadow, the Underworld, fully embodied, where all convention falls away in the Perpetual Dream of Wholeness, where all bodies are enchanted with the lustful fire and all bodies are welcome in radical hospitality to the feast-table, which is the altar of the flesh.

This is the holy communion of witchcraft, the union of flesh with flesh endlessly transforming and spilling forth the wine of Life and Death. The liminality of queer sex embodies the wild experience of the Eternal Sabbat where limitless transformations of body and self are expressed in a dream so intense that our waking lives seem but a pale whispers of actual reality.

Queer Sex Magic unfurls the Rose Bower and allows for the truly marvelous to come into being through the vehicle of our liberated imaginations.
